NXJ 11.7AB and SQLBase on a (headless) Linux box

Postby rpanunzio » Sun Mar 04, 2007 2:56 pm

I'm installing NXJ 11.7AB on a RedHat Linux box and I'm a bit confused about SQLBase role.

After installing NXJ 11.7AB I started my jboss instance and I found an error in server.log, saying it couldn't connect to the default connection and it meant SQLBase.
I looked into the docs and found how to start the SQLBase database server (yes, I'm new to SQLBase, never used before).

The problem I have is that, according to the docs, the dblxsrv database startup utility needs a terminal to display to and I couldn't find how to run it in the background (as a daemon aka a service).

Does this means that I cannot have a headless server unless I configure the default repository service to a different database?
My application server machine is meant to be just a server and it shouldn't need any human intervention in case of a server restart.

I'm really puzzled, here.

Btw, I'm using MySQL as the database server, but its sql create file is not in the list ... and that's quite a disgrace! :-)

Any help gratefully appreciated.

Have a nice day.
