garbage strings from other rows on windows table

Postby donjuanluis » Wed Oct 26, 2011 7:31 pm

Hello people. My first time posting, hope to be lucky.
Din't find a topic of the kind of issue I'm having, so here is it.

I'm building an application to run against odbc with utf8 database (postgres)
Migration came ok until I found extrange behave in table windows after inserts.
If I insert a row with less length than others, some characters are concatenated.
Example.
1st row: Hello world, here I am.
2nd row: Short one
After I do SalTblDoInserts, the second rows populates with "Short oneld here I"
I seems to be something with utf handling, so maybe somebody with some experience could advice.

thanks in advance

I'd need to see a small test case (and I do not have postgres for testing). TD v5.1 is Unicode/double-byte and though it is (now) an old version of TD, I don't recall hearing that it's overwriting strings, especially in the table window. This could be a bug, though.

After I do SalTblDoInserts, the second rows populates with "Short oneld here I"

That sounds like it's on a fetch/repopulate? Again, put a small test case together. I'd first test with the SQLBase ISLAND DB that's shipped, see if a small test case works for that. If there's no overwrite, then I suspect a Unicode issue, postgres, the ODBC router, or...? Not sure.
