Improving performance of SqlConnect against ORACLE

Postby jmgemperle » Wed Jul 01, 2009 7:45 pm

If you experience performance issues with SqlConnect() in connecting to ORACLE using the native router.
And your SQL.INI [oragtwy] section of your remotedbname is configured the following way ie

remotedbname=myORA,@TNS:myORAINST

please change it to not use the TNS part as bellow

remotedbname=myORA,@myORAINST

This is enough to connect and this should fix CONNECTION performance issue you might have noticed with ORACLE.

Nice tip - I'm going to check this out forthwith. Specifically which version of Oracle ? (TNSNames.Ora) are you using ?

May I post your tip on the Team Developer Tips & Tricks Wiki ?
Best wishes
