Attempt to communicate with GUPTA Web App Manager has failed

Postby Nicolas D » Mon Jan 14, 2008 11:12 pm

Hello,
Under Vista, with ctd5.1 sp1 or ctd4.1 ptf2,

I can start web app manager from application console but if I try
to start an application service from this application console, I have the
message:
"Attempt to communicate with GUPTA Web App Manager has failed"

Firewalls are stopped, RPC services seems to be start...

An idea ?

Hi,

Yes I have the same issue has you using VISTA... using XP no problem with Web Developer 5.1 and 4.2. I'm looking at into this issue and let you know as soon as I have an update. Yes RPC is the problem, even though the RPC locator service runs, it seems on vista we have problem to comunicate with it...
Cheers

Hi,

Just wanted to confirm you that this is a bug affecting vista only, both TD420 and TD510 :

TD-3833
TD 4.2, 5.1 unable to use Web Applicaition Console on VISTA error "Attempt to communicate with GUPTA Web App Manager has failed"

Is seems the reason for this is that the call to RpcNsBindingExport is no longer supported. There might be ways arrount it tweaking the registry + using Rpcns4.dll from XP but we don't recommend it at all...so we need to fix it.

Hi.

I ran into this problem with TD4.2 under Windows 7. I'll test under TD5.2.

Is there a fix?

Is there a workaround?

Thank you.
